Avurudu Away From Home: A Sri Lankan Student's Story From Pune

Today is Avurudu. My family is in Colombo, lighting the hearth right now. And I am here in Pune.

Honestly, I thought this would be the hardest day of my year away from home.

But the Sri Lankan students here, we cooked kiribath together in the hostel kitchen. Someone found coconut milk from a shop down the road. We sat on the floor and ate. It felt exactly like home.
